Merry Christmas, Here's to 2012!

Merry Christmas, friends. We had a lovely Christmas. Perhaps my favorite one yet :)

This week, I've been thinking about this year and the year to come. I'm struck by how fast 2011 went.

One whole year in this new job and I feel good and ready to take on 2012. While 2011 was about adapting to ever-changing norms, I think 2012 will be about me making this work for me.

I'm proud of what we've accomplished and ready for a new year. 


One benefit to this job is that I'm always equipped with a camera, or at least an iPhone. I captured more "moments" in the every day this year than ever before.

While I didn't do much (any) scrapbooking, I'm so glad to be able to do something with all those images I took, all those moments of recording people secretly :) This feels like our year. And I do enjoy Kenny Loggins. Hope you do too.

What was once so popular is next season's clearance toy. But none of it seems necessary at all.

It seemed much lighter than this when I was running, but still it was dark at 5:15 p.m. It feels so good to be out moving around. "There is no bad weather, only bad clothing."

Surprise tickets to the theater - what a wonderful gift from a good friend.

I'm so glad for coworkers who meet me for a few hours. It's nice to remember I'm not alone in this job!

Today I felt like I needed to write down just what I accomplished because it didn't feel like much. At least I can point to cans of honey lemon apple jam and cinnamon pear jam, tied and under the tree. That's something.

Come over, she said. Mom made soup. We're hanging out. We watched "The Hangover" and I practiced playing Jingle Bells (over and over again). Sometimes the best nights are last minute and unplanned.

Sometimes I need to take many many photos until I am satisfied we've found the right one.
