The Panama City Beach Mojito

My sister Shannon is a bartender at a restaurant called Pi - President Obama's favorite pizza place. She recently joined the United States Bartender's Guild and has started competing in bartender events.  The other day she whipped up a twist on an old favorite and was kind enough to explain exactly how to make it yourself at home.

Panama City Beach Mojito

Ingredients:
Agave Nectar ( 1/2 ounce)
Fresh limes cut into eighths
Bacardi rum
ice cubes
8-10 mint leaves
top with soda water
Supplies:
shaker
muddler
jigger
knife
juicer
club soda
(This is where I ask Shannon- really? is it necessary to have all this stuff?)
She says: you can substitute for premade lime juice and mojito mix however this will degrade the final product. fresh ingredients are key to the perfect drink.

quarter one lime and place in a mixing tin
wash and pull 8-10 mint leaves place in mixing tin

traditional mojitos call for simple syrup( a mix of 1 part water 1 part sugar) for the PCB mojito I used 1/2 oz agave nectar.
muddle the mint limes and agave together

Add 2 oz Bacardi

add ice, shake and strain into a glass of fresh ice.

Top with soda water.
